Learning Objectives

At the end of the Case Series Mentorship program, participants will be able to demonstrate growth in clinical problem solving through:

  • Feel supported and connected to their role as a pelvic health clinician
  • Improve confidence in clinical reasoning
  • Develop confidence in presenting a case in a logical order and seeking clinical feedback
  • Improve ability to find evidence to help support clinical problem solving
  • Deepening relationships with other clinicians for ongoing support beyond the end of the program.

What is Mentorship?

Progressing from didactic learning to mentorship requires fostering a purposeful trusting relationship in which the mentor providers guidance, feedback and wisdom to facilitate the growth and development of the mentees. Mentees must take responsibility for their own learning and development while the Mentor serves as a facilitator for that growth.

Benefits to Mentee:

  • Share in problem solving and learn from the mentor’s challenges and experiences
  • Build community of practice/peer support network
  • Learn/reinforce places to access resources for clinical problem solving
  • Understand own gaps in knowledge and develop future learning/professional development goals

Instructor

Jodie Pulsifer completed her Master’s of Physical Therapy at the University of British Columbia in 2012 and expanded into pelvic health after several years in public practice. Becoming pelvic health trained through a biopsychosocial lens was the first time Jodie felt that the science was finally aligning with what she was seeing in the care that clients seemed to improve with.

In 2016, Jodie started Full Circle Physiotherapy to develop a community of people who feel empowered to take control of their pelvic health. Jodie’s mission is to support people across all stages of life through health treatment, education, exercise and community development. Jodie approaches care through a biopsychosocial and trauma informed lens which she understands to be a continuous and ongoing process of learning. Jodie strives to empower her community to understand their bodies and participate in their lives in ways that are meaningful to them.

When not in practice, Jodie continues to enjoy taking courses, listening to podcasts while running, attending multi-disciplinary conferences, dabbles in supporting research and continues to be a lifelong learner. Jodie’s current interest is exploring the value of language and what systems of structural violence can create when it comes to access to meaningful healthcare.

Jodie is enjoying speaking engagements at a community level along with teaching with Pelvic Health Solutions. Jodie is a passionate team and community builder, educator and mentor to clients, students and other healthcare professionals.

Jodie owns and operates Full Circle Physiotherapy in Vancouver, BC.
