        Instructor

Laurie VanCott, MSPT, Physiotherapist and Yoga Instructor

Laurie is a physiotherapist, yoga therapist, educator, and owner of Gorge Yoga and Yoga Therapeutics. In her clinical practice, she has over 20 years of experience focused on pelvic health, integrating yoga, meditation, and mindfulness with evidence-based physical therapy approaches. In her early work, Laurie taught yoga in the United States and New Zealand and witnessed firsthand its healing benefits. This led her to pursue training as a physical therapist to combine these disciplines in what we now understand to be the biopsychosocial model of care. She is dedicated to educating physical therapists and patients on the integration of these techniques for comprehensive, holistic clinical care and well being.

Laurie is a lifelong student, always adapting her practice and teaching to new information as it emerges. Recent additions include the science around polyvagal theory, breathwork, somatic interoception, meditation, and mindfulness. Her teaching experience includes teaching for the APTA’s Pelvic Health Section and presenting at CSM multiple times. She has served as the Clinical Coordinator for the Mommy & Baby Wellness program and a lecturer with the Persistent Pain Education Program with a regional hospital system.

Laurie is the founder of Yoga Therapeutics, a company with a mission of providing health care professionals and patients with evidence-based courses, video content, consulting, and related products integrating the wisdom and knowledge of yoga and western medicine. Laurie also remains active teaching yoga on zoom and hosting wellness retreats through gorgeyoga.com.
